The Porsche Cayman S is the new breed of Porsche production that was copied from its existing design, the Porsche Boxster. But how did Porsche invented such a name? Originally the namesake is the caiman species of crocodile which is known for its strength, agility, quick reflexes and unerring accuracy. The Cayman's natural habitat is always the road and it tackles that with a real bite. Genetically, the Cayman S inherits most of its abilities and looks from its ancestors, the 1953 Porsche 550 coupe and the perfectly shaped 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS coupe. Porsche wrote design and motor sports history with these two-seater mid-engine sports coupes.

The Cayman S is a powerful expression of energy, performance, acceleration and speed. True to its heritage the Cayman S not only performs like a Porsche, it really sounds like one too. It has a 3.4 liter aluminum engine which is located behind the driver's seat and similar to most high performance cars it is also a mid-engine design, that is why, compared to other Porsche's the Cayman S has a short rear overhang because of its engine location.

The power of the Cayman's flat six engine has an impressive 295 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and it has a torque of 250 lb.-ft. at 4,400 to 6,000 rpm. Its acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is 5.1 seconds and it has a remarkable top speed of 171 mph. When the six-opposed cylinder starts up the sound inside the cockpit defies description.

With the transmission you can choose between a 6-speed manual or 5-speed Tiptronic S transmission with its short gearlever travel and optimal gear ratios. In Tiptronic S transmission, Porsche designed it to be an automatic or a manual transmission and in automatic mode you can let go of the shifting points to the Cayman S and with rocker switches on the steering wheel allows you to shift gears manually. It has a quick shifting time of only 0.2 seconds so hesitation is hardly perceptible.

Unlike any other high performance cars the Cayman S has a luggage compartment of 14.5 cubic feet of space. On top of its mid-engine there is a 9.2 cubic feet of luggage compartment and 5.3 cubic feet luggage compartment in front, and so nothing slips out of place. Your available space has no upward limit because the Cayman S has an aluminum roof transport system which is available as an option. It is aerodynamically adapted to the vehicle's lines and it offers the possibility to safely transport snowboards, bicycles, skis and even a roof box.

In terms of the new look of the Cayman S, the dual tailpipe which is framed by two ribs, it allows a glimpse of the twin-branch exhaust system which is an effective synthesis of form and function, truly designed by Porsche fashion. A taut, sculpted back that defines muscles and an interplay of concave and convex forms. The lines that transition from the wheel housings to the mid-section of the Cayman S is really attractive. Muscular, athletic and defined, the Cayman S displays the drawn-out elegance of a classic coupe, with the lateral window surface presents a forceful wedge and is supplemented by the line of the elongated roof.

This type of high performance car like the Cayman S is a superb car featured with elegance and sophistication. It defines the looks of performance and comfort. Either you are in the mood for pleasure or for sports, the Cayman S is totally the car of your choice. Though it is not too expensive at the price of $58,900, you don't have to be a millionaire to own one.
