Chevrolet Corvette is considered to be the first American sports car
manufactured in the 1950s and compared to most European sports cars it is
also considered to be the cheapest sports car available even today. With
better refinements that Chevrolet Corvette have given to new models created a
different view compared to previous versions and carbon fibre and aluminum
alloy are already part of its components. With its new design the Chevrolet
Corvette's rear is raised a bit which gives a more sporty and sophisticated
look. The headlamps, like the low beams are a xenon, high–intensity
discharge projector lamp coupled with tungsten–halogen high beams. At 900
lumens of output, the units provide significantly more forward lighting power
than the headlamps on the fifth–generation Chevrolet Corvette. The low
beams also have a spread pattern that is wider. This is common to all
high performance cars and it is already incorporated to give it a more aggressive
look and the body lines that gives a more muscular image, but the real image
of Chevrolet Corvette can still be distinguished.
Like the Formula 1 technology, the Chevrolet Corvette has an optional
six-speed paddle shift with automatic modes for more aggressive and sporty
feeling. Identical paddles are positioned on each side of the steering wheel.
Push the “plus” button with your thumb to upshift early, or hold out
until redline for maximum performance. Downshift on command by lightly
squeezing the paddle behind the wheel back toward you. You’ll accomplish
fast downshifts from sixth gear all the way to first. You can almost feel the
sophisticated technology behind the Chevrolet Corvette through its paddle
shifter, everything is easy and light and they are precisely created to suit the
driver's needs when driving and they contribute to a better driving and handling
all the way to your driving pleasure.
The Chevrolet Corvette has an on-board computer which calculates everything
from traction control to the anti-lock braking system. Active Handling is an
electronic symphony of Traction Control and antilock brakes working through
a network of microcomputers, aircraft–style accelerometers, and sensors to
provide an electronic safety net. Although no system, no matter how sophisticated, can
overcome the laws of physics, this system compares driver steering input with actual vehicle
response and, when necessary, uses individual wheel brake application, as well as the Traction
Control system, and available Magnetic Selective Ride Control system to maximize the
driver’s ability to maintain stability and stay on track.
To explain it even further the ABS or antilock brake system is designed to
help the driver maintain steering control over the car by preventing wheel
lockup even during hard-braking maneuvers. The Active Handling System
helps the driver maintain stability of the vehicle and stay on track. With
the DIC or Driver Information Center continously monitors and keeps the driver
informed of various vehicle functions including readouts for various warnings
and messages, a tire pressure monitor, battery voltage, trip odometers and
engine oil life monitor. The Traction Control is necessary when, in the event of
wheel spin, this feature automatically enhances vehicle traction on most
slippery surfaces.
With these technology on-board the Chevrolet Corvette has a total stability
while running at high speed even when cornering or braking hard on a wet
surface or even on ice. This equipments gives it a total control over the car to avoid
accidents caused by drivers lack of control and this design withstands
pressures that is generated when the car is running. You can really expect
more from Chevrolet Corvette, the power from deep within. Inside every
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is an LS7 aluminum–block V8. It puts out a SAE-certified (Society of
Automotive Engineers) 505 hp and 470 lb.–ft. of torque. Hand–built by the
GM Performance Build Center in Wixom, Mich., the LS7 engine contains a litany
of racing–derived components, such as an eight–quart dry–sump lubrication
system, titanium valves and connecting rods, forged–steel crankshaft with
six–bolt main bearings, high–profile cam, and Computer Numerical
Controlled (CNC) machined heads for better air/fuel flow. Even with its performance, the
engine does not incur a federal government gas–guzzler penalty.
With the LS7 engine inside the Chevrolet Corvette it has a mark from 0 to 60
mph in just 3.5 seconds because the V8 engine has a displacement of 7.0
liter that is remarkably huge to give the car a more quick acceleration, so
quarter mile is just an easy 11.7 seconds for the Chevrolet Corvette.
Overtaking is not hard either because the mid-range acceleration is very
quick that needless to change to lower gear in order to take off.
The Chevrolet Corvette is an everyday car for most people because there is
enough creature comforts to entertain you on the road. It has a dual-zone
airconditioning system and cabin air filtration and Head-Up Display
(HUD) with track mode and g-meter. With the best entertainment for your car, it has
a Bose audio system with an in-dash six-CD changer coupled with heated
seats to keep you relax while driving and a navigation system with GPS just
in case you lost your way. What else can you ask for? All of these components are inspired to give you the best of what you ask for that the
Chevrolet Corvette is not just a sports car for the high speed road but a sports
car with a relax affair.
